Exec Says Driveclub Hasn’t Damaged Sony’s Reputation
The PlayStation 4 exclusive racing game Driveclub had one of the worst launches in videogame history. Many of the online features the game was centred around were broken, this of course affected the game’s review scores and sales.
PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan explained in a recent interview that it wasn’t so bad a launch to damage Sony’s reputation.
Ryan commented: “We have to acknowledge that there have been problems and we’re really sorry to anyone who has suffered from those issues. They shouldn’t happen. But in a world that’s becoming more and more technically complicated, it’s getting harder to deliver stuff. That’s not an excuse, because you shouldn’t really launch a game before it’s ready. And clearly we’ve made mistakes and we apologize for that.”
Ryan doesn’t believe Driveclub’s problem strewn launch has slowed down Sony’s momentum nor has it damaged the Playstation brand. Ryan also added: “When you spend £50/£60 on a game you’re entitled to expect that it works. If we or anyone else in the industry makes mistakes you should fess up to it and then put it right as soon as possible.”
Driveclub launched back in October and there is still no news on when we can expect the free Playstation Plus version, keep tuned here on CarGamingBlog for more Driveclub news, for now why not check out Driveclub’s official site.
